What are the types of laser hair removal?
The laser hair removal Ruby is the type of laser hair removal older. It emits 694 Nm and the light is red. In addition, a refreshing gel is applied to the area where the hair removal is to be carried out.
Currently it is hardly used and is only suitable for light skin with dark hair, so it cannot be used on tanned skin or with a darker complexion.
The Soprano laser fires very fast low-energy pulses, achieving progressive heating of the sub dermal layer of the skin to no more than 35 ºC. It accumulates most of the temperature on the target, with up to 45-50 ºC. This achieves the ideal temperature to remove the follicle without overheating the epidermis.
This type of technique admits dark skin and thick hair, even tanned skin. However, it is not as effective for fair skin, fine or blonde hair.
This laser emits at 755 Nm and is effective in removing thick hair, both dark and light . However, it is not the most appropriate for dark skin, which has been exposed to the sun recently, or for facial hair removal. In fact, it is recommended that a specialist assess whether this type of laser can be used according to the color of the skin and hair.
Typically, several skin phototypes can be treated. Also, gas, gel or cold air is used as a coolant and may require shaving.
The hair removal laser diode is an alternative to the Alexandrite. Its longer wavelength makes it penetrate more into the skin, managing to treat thick and deep hair. In addition, due to its operation, it allows to give more cooling to the skin, so it can treat colored skin, even tanned.
Diode laser hair removal works through the Selective Photothermolysis system. This consists of the laser light acting directly on the hair follicle, penetrating the dermis. This will gradually reduce the appearance of hair since, in each session; the follicle will weaken until it stops producing hair.
Normally, there is usually some residual hair, the removal of which is achieved through annual brush-up sessions.
Among the main advantages of diode laser hair removal, as we remember in this post , are:

This laser emits at 1064 Nm and is more suitable for all skin types, including tanned ones. On the contrary, its effectiveness is lower. In fact, for best results, more power is needed, making it a more annoying system than other laser hair removal treatments.
It is only recommended for very thick and deep hair and it is also not very versatile for other skin types .
Pulsed Light (IPL)
Hair removal by pulsed light treatments is not laser hair removal. Between laser and pulsed light there are similarities, but also differences, although both hair removal techniques can be confused.
